“Marijuana instigates people to a crime”
It is the most ridiculous of the existing statements. This is the most cynical lie that you can imagine. The roots of this lie go back to the 1930s, when during the public relations campaign to demonize cannabis, Harry Aslinger (lobbying the interests of a number of corporations interested in banning cannabis) began to match almost all of the murders in America to the statistics of crimes (that he had fabricated) committed under the influence of cannabis. We described this story in painstaking detail in “The Greatest Errors of History” article.
To date, all serious scientific and governmental expert groups, having studied the relationship between marijuana use and crime, have come to the same conclusion: marijuana does not lead to crime. The great majority of marijuana users do not commit any other crimes except one – marijuana storage. And marijuana does not play a causal role in those crimes in which they are really guilty. Almost all studies on animals and humans show that marijuana reduces rather than increases aggressiveness. And, by the way, it cannot be said about permitted alcohol – in many countries (for example, in Russia), it is alcohol that causes the majority (!) of murders.
