The Government of Thailand has approved provisions allowing the production, possession and use of cannabis herb for medical purposes аccording to the Nation portal.

“According to regulations adopted by the Government of Thailand, cannabis can be used for medical purposes, as well as in drug research. Herewith, the production of medicines based on marijuana must be carried out in “special cases”. Cannabis products can be exported, stored and used by both locals and foreign tourists. However, the availability of cannabis should not undermine the work of drug control services,” the portal writes.

As noted by The Nation, the Kingdom’s Ministry of Health had previously issued decrees concerning the use of marijuana in medicine only for doctors. At the same time, the Thai Ministry of the Interior proposed a campaign to raise awareness among residents and tourists about the dangers and benefits of cannabis. “Chemicals extracted from marijuana can be useful from a medical point of view, but each element has a different intensity and affects human health and psyche differently,” writes the portal with reference to the Department of Mental Health of the country.
